9.  The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
    10.  Those who know your name trust you, O LORD, because you have never deserted those who seek your help.

Amos 1: 6-7

Gaza Will Be Judged for Its Crimes
6. This is what the LORD says: Because Gaza has committed three crimes, and now a fourth crime, I will not change my plans.  The Philistines have taken all the people captive in order to hand them over to the Edomites.
    7.  I will send a fire on the walls of Gaza and burn down its palaces.

What does the Lord Require?  “With what shall I come before the LOrd. and bow myself before God on high?  Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?  Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil?  Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”  He has told you, O man, what is good: and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

For God alone my soul waits in silence; from Him comes my salvation.  He only is my rock and salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.  Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound in chains as a criminal. But the Word of God is not bound! Therefore, I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you;
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you
I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
